“Pursue your values passionately and hold them lightly.” – Steven C. Hayes
Services and Modalities
I specialize in working with adults and healthcare professionals with depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship conflict, substance use disorders, adjustment issues and work stress.
Common complaints I help to ease or resolve:
- mood swings (emotional dysregulation)
- feeling stressed, burnt out or on edge
- impulsivity (anger, spending, self injury, substance use)
- sleeping too much or too little
- chronic pain, digestive issues
- feeling controlled by thoughts or feelings
- constant relationship conflict
- feeling suicidal
- lacking purpose or direction in life, feeling unsure of what to do or where to go next
At this time, I work with individual clients who are 18+ years old. I do provide supportive family therapy as an add-on to individual therapy, where you remain the primary client and I may help you and your family member(s) work through something.
I provide integrative care where needed, where I will collaborate with your other healthcare providers (such as your primary care, psychiatrist/prescriber, body worker/massage therapist…) so your treatment feels tailored to you and like these many pieces are working collectively for your well-being.
I am trained in the following modalities:
- EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
- ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)
- DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy)
- IFS (Internal Family Systems) and parts work.
I blend these modalities with most clients and I will lean towards what seems to fit best for you and your presenting needs. Some core skills we will use and practice in sessions include mindfulness, somatic psychology, self-compassion, building a liberation mindset, communication skills and psychological flexibility. I may share what I know to be research-based but that will never supersede what your own body, intuition, identities and experiences know and require.
You are not Bad. Wrong. Defective. Broken. Worthless. Not enough. Too much.
But I understand you may feel like it.
Commitments and Credentials
I also draw on personal, lived experience regarding grief, trauma and healing. I am committed to being an attuned guide through your healing journey and to repairing if I make mistakes or cause harm.
I engage in ongoing re-education, and peer and professional consultation, regarding anti-racism and anti-oppression, so I may bring as much safety as possible when I serve my BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ clients, who have been strategically undervalued in our Western society. I strive to stay aware of hierarchical systems, and as a relational therapist, pay special attention to hierarchy in the therapy room.
I am a sex-positive, kink and polyamory aware and affirming therapist.
I honor that healing is not just an “inside job” and also requires understanding about how systems contribute to oppression and trauma. Many of my clients have been harmed by healthcare systems and legal systems, among other systems and institutions, and I support clients navigating the impacts of those traumas. Decolonizing mental health is a growing interest of mine.
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida (License# MH14882), and a Qualified Supervisor for Registered Mental Health Counseling Interns in the state of Florida. I am an EMDR Certified Therapist.
I am also licensed in New Mexico (#CTB-2023-0203) and as a telehealth provider in South Carolina (#TLC-307-PC).
I received my Masters in Counseling Psychology from Nova Southeastern University and my undergraduate degree from the University of Florida.
I have worked in various settings including an inpatient psychiatric hospital, high schools, a dual-diagnosis partial hospitalization program, vocational rehabilitation and have been in private practice since 2018.
You can verify the license for any healthcare provider in Florida at the Department of Health website.
